Task: Prepare Product Requirements Document (PRD)
PRD defines the specification of the Product (IP solution) to be developed to address the market opportunity or customer needs identified in MRD. The purpose of this task is to prepare PRD.

PRD is prepared based on the inputs from MRD. Technical Product manager is responsible for preparation of this document. This document gets into the details of defining each feature requirement in detail. This document should help in defining the requirements for the product development team at with more technical details considering technically realizable definition of the features.

PRD should define mainly:

  • Functional Requirements
  • User Experience Requirements
  • Technical requirements (technology, protocols, algorithms, platforms, HW requirements etc.)
  • Non functional requirements like Performance, Portability, Scalability, Compliance/Certifications
  • Maintenance & Support requirements
  • Backward Compatibility requirements (as applicable)

In each feature/requirement the there shall be priority assigned to help in defining the product releases.
